Charles Rennie Mackintosh Note Cards
(Crystal Lacquer technique)

These stamps are based on the work of Scottish designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, one of the principle influences on the Arts and Crafts movement.

Instructions

  1. Stamp on white card stock with your choice of ink. Color the window using markers or media of your choice. Coat well with clear 3D Crystal Lacquer and allow to dry completely (I suggest 24 hours).
  2. Cut out the "window" very close to the stamped image (so that none of the white card stock shows around the edges).
  3. Cut two contrasting pieces of card stock.
  4. Use deckle scissors on the short edges of each of the pieces of stock.
  5. Glue the contrasting card stock together, offsetting by about 1/4 inch.
  6. Fold assembled card, overlapping about 1/4 inch, with the lighter stock inside.
  7. Using a marker the color of the darker color, carefully color the deckled edge of the upper light stock.
  8. Glue the prepared image in the center of the top of the card.
