Block 11 – Peonies

Pattern Source

This block was inspired by Elly Sienkiewicz's block called Peony Medallion Center, Pattern 38 in The Best of Baltimore Beauties. The original block is meant to be created four times, and to be used in the center of a BAQ that has an even number of blocks. I modified the stem slightly and decided to make only one.

Block Title

I wanted to keep the title simple, just like the block!

This Leg of the Journey – Completed September 2007

After I got back into the quilting groove, I continued working on Vintage Flower Vase and another original block (hopefully coming soon!). Both were time-consuming and had many teeny pieces. I wanted a block to help me regain my confidence, so I selected this block. To add interest, I added French knots to each peony.

Lesson Learned

As I mentioned earlier, if you're working on a really detailed block, have a simpler one in the works, too. It will help you retain your sanity (what little there is!).
